Profit-based Routing
The following tables show the cost savings and quality achieved when routing traffic with x164 to Voicetrading with profit-based routing algorithms. See our wiki for details. The data is based on actual traffic terminated with Voicetrading in April 2012.
First table
The actual traffic done, normalized to 1 million minutes. The traffic is a mixture of grey, standard and premium. x164 decides by itself the route quality according to the expected profit when terminating on the different available routes. The expected profit is determined by: (client tariff - termination traffic) multiplied by expected call duration. The average costs per minute (EUR/min) with x164 routing were 16.3% lower than if the traffic had been terminated on premium routes. The quality / average call duration (ACD) from the mix of routes was marginally lower than premium quality.
Second table
What would have happend if only Voicetrading standard routes had been used. In this case 17.5% of minutes would have been lost and the average costs per minute would have been 3.7% higher. Premium routes would not have been available when the standard quality was bad.
Third table
What would have happend if only Voicetrading premium routes had been used. If only premium routes had been used then the costs would have been 19.5% higher.
Conclusion
The data shows that x164 does achieve a high client satisfaction with average call durations almost as high as pure premium routing while reducing termination costs substantially.
